RUNWAY: Z Zegna FW12
When
Z Zegna's former Creative Director announced his resignation and
Ermenegildo Zegna announced his replacement to be
Paul Surridge (formerly at
Jil Sander), we were a bit torn. We loved
Alessandro Sartori's vision for Z Zegna but we also enjoy seeing a new designer's point of view. We were extremely glad to see Surridge's debut collection today; it held up to the level of sophistication that we've come to expect from Z Zegna but also kept the youthful essence of the brand. The outerwear ranged in different shapes, sizes and colors and will surely find broad appeal. The highlight, however, was the finish on the clothing. There was a plasticity to the clothing that gave it a sci-fi and futuristic attribute but was so well edited that it was modern without being too futuristic. A great coup for Surridge and a wonderful new era for Z Zegna.
