RUNWAY: Thom Browne FW12
Thom Browne's Fall/Winter 2012 collection caused quite a stir with a dark and disproportionate collection in Paris today. Browne has never been on the same wavelength as most designers, when he first started, his cropped proportions were ahead of their time and now others are just beginning to see how chic that silhouette is. For FW12, Browne changed the proportions once again, creating heavily padded tops, resembling US football shoulder pads mixed with the eccentric characters one might see at
Arkham Asylum in the fictional city of
Gotham. There was no Batman to be seen to rescue us from this deranged set of be-spiked characters. Then again, we don't think we need rescuing, the collection was quite charming, in a derange kind of way. We especially liked the mix of pink and mint green outfits.
