RUNWAY: Gucci FW12
Frida Giannini's idea of
Gucci has won critical and retail acclaim both in all sectors: mens, womens, children, & accessories. Giannini did for Gucci what others could not: turn it into a cash cow for parent company
PPR. Since the departure of Gucci's other famed designer, Gucci faltered until Giannini took over the reigns. She restored Gucci to its place atop the luxury market. For FW12, Giannini threw the perils of the world financial crisis out the window and returned the Gucci man to an idea of dress in excess. Fur and velvet were heavily featured, as well as intricate brocade and jacquard patterns, all done in Frida's preferred slim silhouette.
