RUNWAY: Hermès SS12
Hermès' mens head designer
Veronique Nichanian does an exemplary job at creating luxurious, wearable, and extremely covetable pieces. Her designs for the French-family owned business are, to borrow a term from the finance world: blue chip. They are consistently well-performing (to continue the metaphor). In egalitarian terms: they're consistently gorgeous. Nichanian relaxed the fit for Spring/Summer 2012, signaling a more subdued, less formal man, one who goes to the golf course instead of the boardroom. She also featured some very chic shorts, albeit a bit short for most men to pull off or have the confidence to wear. Did you see the bags? All we can do is gasp and pine with desire for them. As for the clothes, there are no surprise compartments or big bells and whistles; these clothes are the epitome of quiet elegant.
