RUNWAY: Thom Browne FW11

Thom Browne takes us into the world of Alex In Wonderland with a grandiose dining table seating all the models, with only corn and peas on their plates. Ever the one for innovative presentations, Thom Browne transformed the Paris Westin into an otherworldly space akin to the classic, Alice in Wonderland. The clothes were swimming in plaid and Browne's signature red, white and blue colors, seen on accessories and as piping on the clothing. Speaking of swimming, the opening looks were quite royal with their long trains and grand proportions (and even a cane!).

As one of the last shows for Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011, Browne reaffirmed the biggest trends of the season: fur and grand hats, both of which were heavily used in multiple looks. Browne is probably most well known for his cropped suits and they were present for Fall/Winter 2011 but the pants seemed shorter than usual and a few resembled britches, emphasizing the Old English way of dressing. Also worth noting are the powered faces and powdered wigs worn by the models, as well as the large John Lennon-esque glasses. In the end, though, Thom Browne showed us that he can take something fantasy, like a play on Alice In Wonderland, and turn it into sartorial gold.
