RUNWAY: Jean Paul Gaultier FW11

After all of Jean Paul Gaultier's years in fashion, he still manages to be innovative and fun. Take his latest collection for his eponymous line, which was a play on the James Bond, appropriately entitled: "James Blonde". Though not seen in the pictures below, "ninjas" started the show off, flipping down the runway then came 007, in a perfectly tailored tuxedo with pique lapels. Miguel Iglesias never looked better, holding that gun in his hand as he opened the clothing section of the show. It would not be a Gaultier show without taking a theme, like James Bond, then bending it 180 degrees. The direction Gaultier decided to go in was an androgynous one, apropos with his Spring/Summer 2011 campaign.

Models strutted down the slick runway in skirts, tights, fish-net stockings and padded pants like those seen on American football players. In a nod to the Bond movie, "Goldfinger", the entire latter portion of the show featured various shades of gold, from a fully gold sequined jacket to shiny gold pants. The show and styling shouldn't take away from the fact that the clothes were well tailored and extremely luxurious, both of which are to be expected from a master like Jean Paul Gaultier.
