RUNWAY: Givenchy FW11
After a nearly a 60 minute delay, right as the show was about the start, the venue blew a fuse and the space was in darkness. But once electricity was brought back to the venue, the wait, it seemed, was worth it.
Riccardo Tisci is darkly romantic, his love of taking something beautiful and stripping away the beauty and its facade to reveal something raw, but also beautiful, is a wonder. He's never one to shy away from bold prints and hammer his references into the clothes. Do you remember his religious collection, with a gold crown of thorns? This collection is no different with bold plaid accenting almost every piece, as well as snarling pitbulls. The masculinity of the models he uses, like Rob Evans, is heightened by their strong and powerful build, which compliments the mostly-black collection littered with laser cut suits, chunky rubber soled shoes, tights, and lace up boots that never seem to end.
