RUNWAY: Dolce&Gabbana FW11
Coming off from their whirlwind 20th aniversary menswear collection, Dolce&Gabbana looked to the past for inspiration, before they formed their powerful and influential brand. The era is the 70s and it is full of big lapels, bright colors, crushed velvet and, of course, s-e-x. The image that comes to mind is the fashion crowd dancing the night away in New York City's most infamous club, Studio 54.It is fitting then that the duo's mantra for this season is "Sartoria Eccentrico". Most of the collection is a slight change from prior seasons, like the tailoring and styling of the clothes but standout pieces such as the suit Noah Mills is wearing, a floral infused red suit to a crushed velvet suit with an oversized satin lapel towards the end, worn by Corey Baptiste, breathe new life into the brand's typical strong Sicilian every-man aesthetic. Other notable differences are the cropped jackets that show up throughout the show as well as dropped crotch pants.
