Milan is over! Onto Paris!
Ladies and gents, Milan Fashion Week is over. The boys, stylists, make up artists, hairdressers, buyers and agents are in Paris and ready to start Paris Fashion Week!- The trend of beige and neutral colors from F/W 10/11 continues into S/S 11. The majority of the clothes were pale and neutral. If done properly, it turned out to be an amazing collection of freshing clothes (IE: Costume National and Corneliani),
- Another prevailing trend were heavy-looking clothes and dark colors. If you saw Burberry, you know what I mean. I usually LOVE Christopher Bailey's collections for Burberry but this collection (though with a few exceptional pieces) was a let down. The collection felt like a part 2 of his F/W 10/11 show but during the wrong season. Another example was Versace.
- At first, I hated the new Gianfranco Ferre collection. However, the more details I got to see and saw the clothes for what they were, I think it may have been my favorite collection from Milan! Maybe this is because the collection reminded me of Dries Van Noten.
- Dolce&Gabbana was more of the same. They stayed true to their roots and that could be a good thing but it would have been nice if they added a little panache to the clothes. D&G, however, was refreshing.
- Another disappointment was DSquared2. The more I read about Dean & Dan's inspiration, the more I understood but that didn't change my disappointment at the collection.
- As for the models, the new boys didn't make much of an impact on me. A few did and I'll definitely keep an eye on them but none of them seem to really stand out, other than the fact that I didn't recognize them.
I go into Paris with high hopes!
