Leave it to Belgian Walter Van Beirendonck to create a masterful collection that was equal parts eccentric and wild and also poignant in its presentation and styling. Trompe l’oeil effects were wonderfully executed and were featured on everything from suits to jackets; boxy suits were softened by color blocking while very graphic prints were eye catching and beautiful. We particularly enjoyed flowers in trompe l’oeil seen on a suit jacket, worn by Nick Heymann, while golden hair added an extra level of luxe.

Veronique Nichanian has been with Hermès for twenty-five years and her latest collection for Hermès solidifies why she's been with the famed French luxury house for so long. An effortless collection emerged that was accentuated by strong but relaxed tailoring and a color palette that was flattering not just to the eye but to the body as well. Luxury is commonplace at Hermès so it was with no surprise to see leather blousons, suede trenches and a host of luxurious accessories, nonchalantly parading down the runway. Nichanian also created a series of looks that contrasted the wealth and luxury the clothes evoke with blue collar workwear, like a pair of blue overalls, cinched at the waist. In all, Nichanian has marked Hermès' territory on the men's fashion circuit as the go-to house for casual, unassuming luxury, that's if one can afford the astronomical prices.

Damir Doma's play on proportion and small tread into androgyny coolly played off the monochromatic looks, sometimes creating very masculine, top-heavy looks while others were more romantic and fluid. A pair of high waisted trousers with a semi-transparent blouson was quite fetching and could be worn by either sex while the finale's flurry of blown up herringbone felt a bit off when pitted against the rest of the collection.

Japanese designer MiharaYasuhiro's Spring/Summer 2014 soared thanks to the help of feathers and bird prints and patterns that littered the collection. A relaxed, sometimes slouchy, silhouette was complemented by large feathers on the pockets of pants or shorts or a peacock feather lightly printed onto a jacket. Add some gold leaf to the models heads and the show is practically an ode to Ancient Greek iconography, maybe even Adonis, although the models chosen were on the skinny side of the typical Adonis figure.
