If the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park, and all the shopping on Madison and Fifth Avenues aren't enough reason to visit NYC, this picture of Kyle should be.

Gucci

Frida Giannini has transformed Gucci into this brand that tells the world what luxury will feel, look, and be in the future. As genius and iconic as Tom Ford for Gucci was, Tom Ford is a master of classic silhouettes and tailoring and making them ultra luxe and modern.

Whereas Frida Giannini takes what is happening now (what is modern) and shows us what modern will be in 6 months, 12 months and so on. That, in essence, is the point of fashion, no? To predict, mold, and mandate what consumers will be wearing. Ms. Giannini does just that with her ultra modern, ultra luxe clothing. This electric blue ribbed leather jacket, paired with a pair of tights and simple strap sandals, does exactly that.


Lucas Ossendrijver has done something with Lanvin Menswear that transformed it from this stuffy, old moneyed house and, dare I say, irrevelant house and made it into an ultra chic, ultra cool brand with a sense of humor that's unparalleled in menswear. Lucas has done exactly for Lanvin Menswear that the genius Alber Elbaz has done with Lanvin Womenswear. Bravo to both! I never want to see the day when Alber & Lucas are not designing for Lanvin.

This collection from Lanvin is my favorite Lanvin collection, EVER. This look especially (worn by model extraordinaire, Nicolas Ripoll) sums up the collection: light and modern and pokes just enough fun at the whole idea of "fashion" to be comical and maybe even thought provoking (notice the cheap looking "Lanvin" necklace & the other painted on mustaches on the other models). C'est magnifique!

Prada

This was, by far, Miuccia's best menswear collection in many seasons. Without being overly pretentious about the explanation of the collection (I'll leave that Ms. Prada herself), I love the perforated clothing, the grey, black, and white color scheme, the subtle patterns and the message.

I'm not the only one who agrees that this collection was superb. Prada is always an editorial darling, with pieces always a part of a look. The ubiquity of the Spring/Summer clothes during this season's editorials shows just how transcendent this collection was.


I know, I know. You're saying, "Is he crazy? This poor model is wearing samurai makeup and a miniskirt!?" The answer to the first part is, well, that's still up for debate. But as for the look, I want you to deconstruct it. Look at the individual pieces of clothing, examine how perfectly cut that leather blazer is, how chic that rounded shirt collar is and the placement of the tie clip. It's perfection. Much like John Galliano, Marc Jacobs, Julius, Commes des Garcons, and countless others, one must look past the styling and examine and appreciate the clothing.

My favorite piece from this look? That tie. It's magnificent.

Z Zegna

My favorite collection of Spring/Summer 2010! If you haven't seen the entire collection, GO RIGHT NOW & ADMIRE!

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

The clothes were cut with the sartorial skills that's only to be expected from Ermenegildo Zegna but with a youthful twist it's younger (and cheaper - YES!) line has become famous for.

Shawl collar blazer, faded gunmetal grey crew neck shirt, and tapered slacks cut just slightly above the shins. Perfection. I'd wear this every single day.

Signore Sartori: I bow down to you, sir. Exceptional collection.

Well readers, this concludes my top 10 looks of Spring/Summer 2010. It was unintentional that the final look was my favorite. Just another happenstance of life, I guess.
