YMC's grungy presentation location was apt when looking at the sharp but loosely tailored collection the British label presented. It seemed rooted in the Beat Generation of poets and singers who gathered in dive bars to share their art with one another. Widely cut trousers were paired with smart and nondescript coats while berets, pageboy hats and other head-pieces finished the looks.

A live band added plenty of life at YMC's FW16 runway show while a demure but wearable and chic collection highlighted a certain ease of dressing. There can often times be too much styling or too much snazzy details that a collection becomes a sensory overload. That is not the case here. There were plenty of well tailored pieces with comfortable cuts while the oversized denim paid homage to the label's tear-down-to-rebuild ethos.

YMC's statement for Spring/Summer 2016 is wearability. It's a term that's often a death nail at certain fashion capitals but wearability is important and that's what YMC's collection is about. A mix of somber and tropical littered the runway, full of comfortable hoodies, relaxed trousers (rolled up slightly to give a boho-vibe, naturally), and often paired with a cool Havana hat.

Super cool guys paraded down YMC's runway in equally cool designs: laid back but luxurious; take the opening looks in buttery soft nappa leather. Other highlights include the joggers paired with soft jackets and zippered shoes.

YMC's utilitarian offerings for SS15 were rooted in a casual way of dress. Jeans and a tee-shirt did not pervade the looks, thankfully. YMC opted instead for a chic and grown up take on casual dressing: seen in relaxed and tailored bottoms and soft layering that draped the body and accentuated what most men want to showoff, such as their arms, and hide what they don't, like rounded stomaches. Outerwear assisted in that latter with belts and cinched waists to great effect.

Sporty and youthful are keywords that easily and succinctly describes YMC's Fall/Winter 2014 collection. Technical fabrics were a highlight in the collection as they were seen on pants, shirts and outerwear, like a great hunter green puffer. YMC stands for "You Must Create" and that's exactly what the label is doing: creating a spot for itself in menswear.
