It might be a big confusing to see all the layers upon layers of clothing that OAMC put on the runway at its SS20 show. But these beguiling layers were light and airy with some autumnal patterns thrown in for good measure.

There were a lot of elevated grunge-inspired looks at OAMC's Fall/Winter 2019 show, some came in layers of monochrome while others were surprisingly sophisiated including a double-faced yellow gingham patterened coat.

For Spring/Summer 2019, OAMC offered a laid back collection that focused on texture and fluidity via metallic fabrics, scrunched and folded to create almost bulbous proportions while transparent layers added dimension. The tailoring was also of note with contradicting but complementary cuts, taut on top, looser on the bottom or vice versa; it looked youthful and fresh, as did the light color palette in shades of white and black.

Luke Meier, one half of the husband-and-wife team behind the new Jil Sander, created an austere collection for OAMC that combined boxy military cuts, some beautiful color blocking, a knit with a mountainscape print, and military-style boots (pants tucked inside said boots, naturally). While loungey pants belied the military influences, they were a counterbalance to the sharp corners of a coat, softening them to make them approachable for every-man.

OAMC's designer, Luke Meier, will be very busy soon. He and his wife, Lucie, will be the co-designers at Jil Sander and if the latest OAMC collection is any indication, the new look at Sander will take on a fresh aesthetic. Back to this collection, which was inspired by Beatnik poet Allen Ginsberg. There were sophisticated and intellectual layers here, most were on the big, oversized spectrum, while Ginsberg's words echoed a sense of unity and community that has been a revolving theme during this SS18, a year after the surprise Brexit vote, the continued refugee crisis in Europe and the continued terror attacks in the continent and beyond.

Wet-haired models donning wide cut clothes at OAMC's Spring/Summer 2017 show that evoked a survivalist vibe, as if fleeing from the horrors of civilization to start over or wait out the dystopian future in nature with only one's most precious processions, socked away in an oversized bag.
