After dumping its designer (Paul Surridge) a few months ago, Roberto Cavalli and its diffusion label, Just Cavalli, is tredding water hoping to stay afloat. And while this Resort collection took on the codes of the house (sparkle, glamour and animal prints at affordable prices), it seemed like there was an effort to throw everything in vogue right now against the wall and hoping it sticks long enough to sell some of these clothes in six months - it is not a viable business plan.

It's striking to think that Just Cavalli is one of the few diffusion lines still around - it hasn't been shuttered or folded into another line. It must signal that these more affordable wears continue to sell the bourgeoisie dream - if that dream includes animal prints, bright colors and flash. All three were present in this relatively tame collection that offered what younger shoppers want: denim, animal appliqueed clothing and branding.

Paul Surridge's tenure at Cavalli has just started but he's quickly gone to work with revamping the aging label and making it more relevant. For this SS19 collection for Just Cavalli, animalia prints littered the collection but in more interesting ways, such a band of cheetah print on the side of a pair of pants or a splotch of cheetah on a denim jacket. Without being too obvious, these youth-oriented clothes offered just enough of the brand's DNA while incorporating items the public wants: branding and casual sportswear.

Peter Dundas rehashed some of the menswear looks he showcased during Roberto Cavalli's FW16 men's show last month, including a sequined jacket and velvet jackets shrunken and intricately embroidered.

Italian photographer Giampaolo Sgura captures a beautiful seaside campaign for Just Cavalli's SpringSummer 2013 campaign. Chris Petersen, Tomas Guarracino and Chris Bunn don the youthful and flamboyant fashions, all well edited and styled by Veronique Didry.

Roberto Cavalli's second line, Just Cavalli, opted to show a tailored collection with plenty of personality, seen as animal print trim or distressed denim or a large mesh jumper. In any case, the highlight of the collection were the tailored pieces in a rich finish that exemplified Italian design.

Roberto Cavalli showcased a much more pared back Just Cavalli collection for Fall/Winter 2012 with strong military influences from the opening men's look to an oversized parka. In all, it a refreshing change to Just Cavalli, which is usually hyper-flamboyant with animal prints, shine and general excess.
