John Richmond's signature rocker style mixed with military references at his FW19 show today, resulting in a collection that had plenty of buttery-soft leathers, camouflage, and army-green hues. The military surplus vibe fought for dominance among the more athletic-minded designs of hoodies, sweats and more but felt stronger - likely because they felt fresher for the Richmond aesthetic.

John Richmond's aesthetic has always been hard-edged rockstar with a penchant for crystals and leather. For FW16, he added fur vests, graphic prints and a slew of other accoutrements that have popped up on several other labels last season seeing what sticks. The collection was its best at the end, with an emphasis on tailored suits with dashes of glitz.

For his Spring/Summer 2016 collection, John Richmond played with hard and soft elements, from splashes of pop art and comic book graphics to his signature hard edged tailoring. The mix often worked, like in a crystal encrusted jacket with patent leather loafs, or a bold graphic hoodie with skater shorts. However, the seesaw of hard and soft were just far too dissonant to feel coherent. The tailored pieces eclipsed the sportier elements by a mile.

John Richmond's usual rocker style was toned to a (mostly) somber FW15 that favored classic silhouettes and conservative English patterns like windowpane and Prince of Wales. There were punk references in the slim fitting suits and the bearded, pierced and tattooed models, as well as a very colorful graphic print seen at the tail-end of the show.

It was all about the lucky number 7 at John Richmond's Spring/Summer 2015 show. But like any Richmond show, there was a twist, or in this case, an inversion. The "7"s were all upside down and seen on sports jerseys with mesh detail, shirts and jackets. The sportswear seen in the collection relied heavily on techno-inspired graphics, something that's been quite popular in men's fashion for some time and always proves to be a retail win. As for the tailoring, that's where Richmond's expertise shined through, from boxy one-button jackets to plenty of options for the rock star-inclined wearer.

Fur, leather and eyeliner are three important components to John Richmond's Fall/Winter 2014 collection. Were it not for the collection's nearly all-black palette, this collection could have walked into the obscene but the color choices were intentional and allowed the clothes to be more serious, that's if you can call a bejeweled leather bomber or high-pile fur coat serious.

Tribal themes provided much of the story for John Richmond's Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Shiny fabrics also added some rockability to the clothes, which is right up Richmond's alley.
