Pattern-on-pattern is common at Custo Barcelona and continues into the SS18 with an avian theme.

Glam looks in metallic shades and animal print rounded out Custo Barcelona's maximalist Fall/Winter 2017 collection.

Prints and patterns exploded onto Custo Barcelona's runway show like one would expect. There were tropical floral prints that gave the collection a beach-y vibe while slinky and metallic suits gave the collection a glam feel.

Custo Barcelona's kitschy FW16 collection seemed rooted in the 70s and in the idea of American collegiate style, with a healthy dose of the label's signature print-on-print. Though the bejeweled sweaters with totem poles seemed a bit insensitive but is just another example of European designers borrowing from other cultures they know little about for the sake of design or embellishment.

A strong 1970s vibe ran through Custo Barcelona's bright and effervescent SS16 collection, full of men who enjoy a bit of mesh, a little lace and plenty of patterns. They all donned rubberized spectacles which added a school boy charm to the relatively pared back collection while a bit of skin from transparent tops to mesh football jerseys added a bit of spice, as if the Spanish label needed it.

An ocean of patterns and prints mixed with slim tailoring at Custo Barcelona's Fall/Winter 2015 collection. More somber pieces (at least relatively-speaking) excelled: take the opening men's look, resplendent in its grey hues in hatched pattern with simple black accents; meanwhile, a Churchill-esque jumpsuit in ecru looked chic when paired with a matching blouson.

Jewel toned designs were front and center at Custo Barcelona's NYFW outing. Emerald to citrine hues brought a lively vibe to the sportswear the Spanish label offered. Nearly every look came accessorized with a cross-body bag, perfect to keep a change of clothes: from the beach to the club.

With messenger bags in tow, the men at Custo Barcelona were ready to take on the world. For SS15, these men-on-the-go were wearing easy layers with (relatively) subtle patterns, from Navajo to vertical stripes. A bit of flesh from crochet layers or transparent tee's added the sex appeal this label is known for while the metallic fabrics and the louder pieces reminded the audience that this was still the Custo Barcelona they know.

Custo Barcelona's niche is mixing fabrics and it did so effortlessly during New York Fashion Week. Take for example a chic suit in two tones, looking like an Instagram filter gone awry. One half of the suit in grey wool and the other in camel but mixed with the grey, it what might be interpreted as sepia. In all, the more relaxed and less ostentatious designs were a welcome change of pace.
