Adam Kimmel showcased a sci-fi inspired collection for Fall/Winter 2012, with the set made the resemble the maybe-fictional Area 51. The collection had a vintage 50s feel with a lot of luxurious fabrications, like a re-imagined varsity jacket in two-tone grey cashmere. For an Adam Kimmel collection, it was very tamed but had the signature Kimmel charm like sweatsuits made to resemble astronaut gear or the model in a fighter pilot helmut.
RUNWAY: Adam Kimmel FW12
New York-based designer Adam Kimmel showed his first ever runway show today in Paris. It was a stark departure from his usually over the top and, quite frankly, odd presentations in the past. Gone was the Chewbacca-esque suits and in its place were far more wearable sportswear pieces inspired by surf culture. The soft fabrications were complemented by slouchy silhouettes and excellent tailoring. Trousers were left relaxed with enough wiggle room to throw off and jump into the ocean and to throw back on to go off to an informal meal afterward. This beach-chic collection was quite wonderful for Kimmel.
