RUNWAY: Vivienne Westwood FW17
The tyranny of the rich and powerful is a constant theme at
Vivienne Westwood's shows and collections and with the past year's events, it has certainly become a central focus for her FW17 collection.
Andreas Kronthaler, her partner in life and at her label, proffered a rags to riches story, with plenty of "pauper"-like designers, think knits as well as under- and oversized garments, while the tailored pieces still looked a bit tattered, ill-fitting or mismatched, such as one paired with bloomers. Meanwhile, modern references also showed up, like the image of Internet trolls making a cameo on a few sweaters. In the end, much of the collection ties back to the much-referenced Machiavelli treatise,
The Price, seen even in the paper crowns the models wear, one even saying "Not Rich".
