RUNWAY: Lanvin SS17
Changes have been afoot at
Lanvin for months now and the dust has mostly settled with the appointment of couturier Bouchra Jarrar as the womenswear director.
Lucas Ossendrijver continues to be the style maker at Lanvin menswear so the shift in mood and direction is minimal for men. For SS17, there were punky references with hard-edged designs while clashing patterns mixed harmoniously to create chic, albeit ne'er do well, looks. The pieces that stood out were the tie-dye shirts, seemingly innocuous and thrown in as an extra layer, was in reality a nod to the gay community, which is large in the fashion industry, as a sign of solidarity and love in light of recent events, and, as always, Lanvin's shows always happens during Pride Weekend in Paris which this year likely has greater importance.
