RUNWAY: Louis Vuitton SS16

Louis Vuitton's men's style director Kim Jones likes to travel. A lot. His travels usually hint at what his next collection will be inspired by, just check his Instagram for a little insight. Last season, it was India (Jiapur to be exact). This season, it was Asia. Silken and shiny fabrics abounded, usually intricately embroidered and hinted at an Asian inspiration. Jones traveled to Myanmar and its influences can be felt throughout, as well as influences from Japan. Take a super luxe kobe trench in a deep blue hue, the creation of which reportedly takes months.

The Louis Vuitton man can buy virtually anything he could want so Jones infuses the worlds most luxurious fabrics into the collection. He takes the ordinary and turns them into something unique and extraordinary, such as the denim-like trousers that's seen throughout. There were also souvenir jackets, like the one that opened the show, that continued the Asian influences, with cranes and floral detailing that looked kitschy and fun and balanced out the more somber parts of the collection, like the requisite suit, once again, sans tie.
