RUNWAY: Junya Watanabe SS15
Junya Watanbe's country bumpkins have moved to the city for Spring/Summer 2014. However, that shift to city-ready fashion doesn't mean he did not take a bit of home with him. This translated to a litany of patchwork denim with strong Japanese influences, from the lacquered hair and thick eyebrows like that seen on sumo wrestlers to the flip flops worn by every model. A shorter pant looked very fresh, with fabrics and finishes ranging from silky blends to loose with dropped crotches. The patterns, from hexagonal ones to floral and sea shell shaped ones, were a great way to break up the strong blue hues in the collection. In all, it was a triumph for Junya.
