RUNWAY: Valentino SS14

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli's creations for Valentino have been the highlights of fashion week for years and now that the duo has had some time to hone in on the identity of the Valentino ma,: sophisticated but urban; Spring/Summer 2014 took us to a very familiar place. It almost felt like a hybrid of SS13, camouflage, and FW13, capes and chunky stripes on perfectly tailored suits. Though there were strong military references in SS14, the stolid collection needed a bit of oomph to really become a home run. That being said, Valentino's new collaboration with Havaiana is sure to sell out while the rest of the collection is sure to be a critical darling.
