RUNWAY: Christopher Kane SS14
As London's mens and womens fashion week continue to grow and expand to showcase some of the more innovative designers out of the four major fashion capitals in the world,
Christopher Kane is at the precipice of that. After leaving
Versus Versace late in 2012 with rumors that he would take the helm at
Balenciaga, one that turned out to be false, it was soon announced that
Kering, formerly
PPR and owner of Balenciaga,
Alexander McQueen and others, had taken a 51% controlling stake/invest in Kane's label. Unsurprisingly, Kane's presentation for SS14 is one now of the most anticipated and he did not disappoint with beautifully rendered, albeit haunting, prints and a thoroughly modern and chic take on classic British menswear, Kane proves that he not only has a penchant for creating beautiful womenswear but when it comes to his own gender, he also excels.
