RUNWAY: Valentino FW13
After deciding to show in Florence during
Pitti Uomo for the past two seasons, French couture house
Valentino opted to return to Paris to show their latest menswear collection. It was a tour de force in modern tailoring. The co-creative directors
Maria Grazia Chiuri and
Pierpaolo Piccioli's melding of technology with the classic mens tailoring should be applauded; we adored the pixelated and enlarged houndstooth pattern, as well as the bold black leather stripes on many of the opening looks. Spring/Summer 2013's take on camouflage returned, this time in a darker and more demure tone. There was an aura of 'man of mystery', from the soundtrack to the smooth and suave swagger of the models. An excellent show to start Paris Fashion Week with a bang.
