RUNWAY: J.W. Anderson FW13
British designer
J.W. Anderson knows how to turn heads, no wonder
Versace scooped him up to replace
Christopher Kane as the designer for
Versus. For his eponymous collection, Anderson looked at androgyny through a different lens. Pencil dresses with interestingly placed seamed were paired with knee high boots while beautifully constructed and minimal warrior outfits were masculine and feminine but leaned more towards the latter. In all, the show left many wondering what the future of menswear might hold, with prominent men now proudly wearing skirts (see
Kanye West and
Marc Jacobs) and men in general finding more interest in fashion and style. But this show was quite a feat in modernity; it was eye-brow raising but in a good way.
