RUNWAY: Jil Sander FW12
If the rumors are true then this could be
Raf Simons' final collection for
Jil Sander. If that is the case, his swan song was a glorious symphony full of texture. Continuing the slick aesthetic Raf created for Sander's SS12 collection, FW12 had the same futuristic and technical feel. Raf has always played with volume and for this season's outerwear, they were so voluminous, they seem to swallow the models whole, leaving only their extremities visible. Not everything was so hard-edged, there were also two fun sweaters with child-like prints: a whale and a dinosaur. Playing with this idea of childhood memories, there were also Jil Sander branded paper lunch bags. Overall, it was a winning collection and a great end to Simons' reign at Sander, should the Belgian designer move to
Dior.
