RUNWAY: Dior Homme FW12
Kris Van Assche was deeply inspired by military garb for
Dior Homme's Fall/Winter 2012 collection. The first third of the collection had plenty of military references with olive playing a dominant color, with silhouettes sharp and boxy. Fabrications were nothing but the best once again, with a lot of cashmere, leather, and wool blends, all tailored and finished to perfection. As the show progressed, Van Assche showed he can pull off his vision of Dior Homme, a meld of sharp tailoring and streetwear, in shades other than his usual black. One of the many highlights of the show were the linear overcoats done up in quilt, cashmere, and wool with sateen piping and zippers. The coats were sleek and modern and right-off-the-runway wearable. If this is Van Assche hinting at a new stage for Dior Homme's aesthetic, we're happy to see more.
