2010: Androgyny

3) Andrej Pejic re-ignites fashion's love for androgyny

Though Andrej Pejic is not the first or only face that has editors and designers intrigued by his androgynous, he is certainly the one getting the most attention at the moment. When Andrej first appeared on the runways of Paris, photographers and editorials thought that designers like Raf Simons and Jean Paul Gaultier were showing a womenswear look during the mens show, which is generally not uncommon, but it was uncommon for those designers.

Soon, however, we learned that that beautiful creature with the long blond hair was not a girl, but in fact Andrej Pejic, half Croatian and half Serbian, from Australia. Since then, Pejic has been seen in many editorials such as his recent editorials for Arena Homme +, Vogue Turkey and Vogue Italia. Andrej will soon be seen in the worldwide campaign for Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2011, alongside top female model, Karolina Kurkova, as well as the campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011, shot my Juergen Teller.

It's still be seen what permanence Andrej and his look and other colleagues have in the spotlight, but 2010 was definitely a year to come out of the gate sporting a soft, androgynous look.
