Interview with Silviu Tolu
Viva Models interviews current Guess? model, Silviu Tolu, and asks him some great questions, check out the interview below:
What is your origin& where are you from?
I’m European. I was born in Bucharest, Romania.
What are your main interests?
Regarding what? My main interests in life: modelling at this point, education and acting.
Which is your favorite music at the moment?
I don’t have a favourite band. I like Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne. And I like Lady Gaga as well.
Does fashion mean something to you and how would you describe your personal style?
Of course it means something, it’s part of my life now and i’m really into it. My personal style is sometimes classy, sometimes smart casual, but it’s really related to my mood and my feelings.
Does working in the industry influenced your personal style?
Yes, it did. I’m trying to learn from what I see if I think it’s worth it.
Do you read Fashion magazines?
I have to. It’s always very important to know what’s happening in this world. That’s like asking an economist if he’s reading financial magazines. I must get updated pretty often. But I always read a lot of literature!!!
What was your best job so far?
My best job so far it’s the Guess Campaign. But there are many jobs i’ve learned something from. Recently, I did a photo-shoot with my friend and teacher and owner of my mother agency, Allure, the photographer Tibi Clenci. I had to reinterpret myself and he helped me a lot with great advices, as always.
What is the best part of being a fashion model?
Travelling and getting to know interesting people & cultures and to see magnificent landscapes. Then you can compare your own country with the new ones you see.
Which side of the buisness you do not like so much?
Being away from friends and family.
How do you prepare yourself for a job?
Haha. First of all, I sleep. Then I think about what I have to do and if I have to act like a special character, I bone up on the subject. I’m doing my homework.
How do you manage yourself in a new city?
I’ve never had a problem with this. I was able to handle it everywhere. I think that Tokyo ( or any other Asian city) would be more difficult.
How is life in a model apartment?
Usually is very interesting. I always thought that we should try something like “The Big Brother” in a model apartment. It would be so much fun to see guys cooking, doing laundry and cleaning.
What is always in your travel luggage?
Underwear, shower gel and shampoo, shirts, socks, pants, T-shirts and perfume.
Do you have a favourite season of the year?
Yes. Winter. But a proper one! I like the smell of winter, the whiteness of snow and cold temperatures.
What type of exercise do you do and how do you maintain your beauty & look?
Crunches and push-ups. And gym when I can.
What made you stand out as a model?
Mm, don’t know. The fact that I’m open-minded and I’m always trying to improve myself, to be better.
Do you have a favourite model and why?
Not really. I like Jon Kortajarena and I really appreciate him for his work and Jessica Stam from girls’ division.
What would you advise to new models?
To take care of themselves and to work on their minds and their souls to become better.
