RUNWAY: Versace SS17

Athleticwear has invaded Donatella Versace's mind and the result was quite striking. For SS17, she was inspired by dancers and the need and desire for clothes that conform to the body and allow ample movement resulted in a strong collection, evident not just in the first look of tights and a loose knit but throughout, in the Medusa-printed parkas, the technical fabrics utilized to great effect. Though the Versace name may synonymous with maximalist designs, Donatella's ability to tap into the right now and even the future of fashion is underrated and in her own way, she has shaped and continues to shape fashion in profound ways without the guise of tricks and gimmickry. This collection's precise, well edited collection was another well deserved notch on her studded belt.
