RUNWAY: Gucci SS15

It was inevitable that with the overwhelming amount of stripes seen on the runway thus far that there would be one who chose to incorporate stripes and use it to showcase a collection about pirates and other seafaring men. Gucci went that route and under a less capable director, the collection could have easily turned into a farce but Frida Giannini's expert eye showed these bold stripes and paired them with simple and elegant tailored pieces, like a great jacket or suits with messenger bag straps showcasing the graphic stripes. Take another example of a crisp suit with wide lapels that had striped shirt styled over the lapels: slightly retro, stylish and fun. In all, it was a smart collection and save for a few looks that went too hard on the idea of being shipwrecked, the collection is perfect for days aboard one's mega-yacht.
