RUNWAY: Fendi SS15

Silvia Fendi's latest collection for her family's men's line included one of the big stories this season: denim. There are critics out there who view this as a big shift and ponder what this means for the men's fashion industry as whole. In reality, it seems quite business savvy. With so many fashion labels, both big and small, how do they differentiate? How do they attract new business? Denim, or to be more precise, jeans, are a staple in nearly everyone's life and while designer denim is still pricey, the price point is lower than a cashmere sweater or a crocodile bag. Add to that the brand recognition of Fendi (or Tom Ford etc) then it could possibly be a cash cow.

That being said, there was more to the collection than a few pairs of dark wash denim, there were in fact plenty of really great things, such as luxe cashmere sweaters or cool outerwear. Then there were the leather and exotic-skin accessories and Fendi's new headphone collaboration with Beats. Talk about cash cow!
