Along with D&G's final collection, SS12 shows another final collection: Alessandro Sartori's last Z Zegna collection. Alessandro has been the head designer for Z Zegna for 8 years and has made great strides for this younger sibling of Ermengildo Zegna. But he has moving onto a different position and his replacement will be Paul Surridge from Jil Sander.
For his final collection, Sartori blew the competition out of the water with this beautiful collection centered around different hues of blue, mustard, and finally black, showing the same blue we've seen so many times this season already. We will surely miss Sartori's sharp, modern suits that are effortlessly youthful and fresh. The final pieces however had a very Victorian feel and it was a hint at what a Z Zegna collection might look like if it had a harder, more historical theme. We shall miss you Alessandro but you left us wanting more and that just proves your talent.
